Silicon Mountain Conference

Each year, members of the Silicon Mountain community organize a conference to consult, network, exchange ideas, showcase products/services, meet stakeholders/investors, and discuss possible solutions to common challenges.
The Last conference SMCON2021 attracted over 1000+ participants, making it the largest community-driven event on technology innovation and entrepreneurship in Cameroon.

While the conference has its roots from the techies in the community, the Silicon Mountain Conference has grown to be more inclusive community, reflecting the plethora and diversity of the techies, start-ups, innovators, science & tech communities, Academics institutions, incubators, Influencers and Change Agents who together constitute the Silicon Mountain Entrepreneurial Ecosystem.

Hack Our City Challenge

This year’s SMCON powered by ORANGE CAMEROON, is organizing a Hackathon to solve a community problem, Waste Management.

Students or young professionals in the Buea community can form teams of 3-5 persons and apply for the Challenge.
1,000,000 XAF is the cash prize

The SMCON22 1st Edition Hackathon in the community of Buea will run over the course of 24 hours (November Wednesday 9th, 10AM to Thursday 10th 10AM, at Mountain hub and Active spaces – BUEA). It aims at developing ideas to help achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in line with the theme “Local Solutions for a Sustainable Digital Economy”

Code Battle

This year, Google Developers Group Buea, a community that codes, will be hosting another code battle, where developers will challenge themselves in various code katas for 2 tracks; frontend and backend.

Two winners will be selected and announced ( rewarded) at the D-day of the conference.

If you’re a student, entrepreneur, and most especially, a computer programmer/developer, GDG Buea urges you to participate in the 2022 code battle taking place at Jongo Hub, Friday 11th November, 2022 and stand the chance to win amazing prizes.

What is the purpose of the conference?

The Silicon Mountain Conference (#SMCON22) is an annual event organized by community members (Entrepreneurs, Startups, Higher Institutes of Learning, Development Organizations, Civil Society, SMEs, and Government) of the Silicon Mountain Community to bring to the limelight the opportunities and successes from Silicon Mountain. This conference edition, which will hold from the 10th to the 12th of November 2022, shall be hosted in various innovation hubs in Silicon Mountain, The Council Hall, and Chariot hotel as the venue for the final Conference day.
